“I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance than I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.”
~Henry David Thoreau
I quite agree, Mr. Thoreau. Birds are the singular best spirit-improvers and awe-inspirers of just about anything I can think of. A world without them is one in which I would not care to dwell.
What about you?
There are so many goldfinches in this beautiful garden!

Thank you! I do not often have so many goldfinches at once so I was happy that I had my camera on me. It was a hot day and the birds love to get on Vinnie for something to drink.

I noticed goldfinches like to eat Cosmos seeds last year! What pleasant little birds!

Perhaps I will plant some cosmos next year! I have tons of Black-eyed Susans that they are attracted to.
