We had an incredible sort of rogue storm blow through here the other afternoon. I was out in the workshop making stuff to take to the Country Living Fair and all of a sudden a tornado warning came over my phone. Shortly, all you-know-what was breaking loose outside.
We had hail the size of mothballs.
I am happy and relieved to say that other than a billion leaves all over the place and some less than happy flowers, we escaped unscathed. After losing two ginormous trees in Hurricane Isabel, I always worry about the big, old elm that looms over the house and front yard when something like this blows through. There were trees down in the neighborhood, including a massive one across the street a block away. The news later reported that 2 tornadoes did touch down in our area.
I feel very lucky.
